Holy Trinity Game
The Holy Trinity Game on January 14th was cancelled by Holy Trinity during a time when they had to adjust the games that they had to play around their volleyball schedule.  We would have enjoyed playing them, but it will give us an extra day to practice needed skills during the week prior to our District Match.
Pictures from the Cocoa Game
Check out the new pictures from both the JV and Varsity Cocoa Games.  Thanks to Mr. Skrobot for taking such excellent pictures.  I selected just a few of the almost 500 shots taken for the website.
Finals and Holiday Schedule
JV will have short practices after school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as follows:

Monday 3:45-5:00 in the weight room near gym
Tuesday 3:45-5:00
Wednesday 2:45- 4:00 in the weight room near gym

Varsity will also have short practices on Monday and Tuesday, on the practice fields, approximately 3:45 -5.  Wednesday is our make up game against Rockledge, beginning at 4 pm at McLarty Stadium (not park), off of Murrell Rd in Rockledge.  Remember, this game is Varsity only.  Be there by 3 pm for team meeting and warm up.
Thursday and Friday will be days off for both teams.

Over the holidays we will practice on Dec 28, 29, and 30 at 10 am.  We will be in the Snake Pit.  We will also practice on January 4th at 10 am, as our first game is on Jan 5th against Bayside HS at home.

Varsity should call 693-3509 (Coach Patton's Cell) or 720-1027 (Coach Jack's cell) if you are unable to attend practice, or email Sabrima@cfl.rr.com or dsjmjcorp@cfl.rr.com.   JV should call 482-4850 (Coach Mark's cell) or email mrpappas_429@yahoo.com if they are unable to attend practice.
Picture Day
DSP will be coming out on 12-10-09 to take team and action shots for the yearbook.  The varsity team has decided to wear their purple jerseys for the team picture.  The JV girls will be wearing white.  The JV picture will be at 4:30, so make sure you are there on time and ready to be photographed before warming up.  If you need to be wrapped, wait until after the picture, or get it done beforehand, but don't hold up the process.  The Varsity picture is at 5:15.  Be prompt and ready to be photographed so we don't interfere with the start of the JV game.  Action shots will be taken during both games.
Both Girl's Teams Beat Edgewood Indians!
The evening started off with a bang when Alexa Bledsoe scored the only JV goal.  Although there were 7 more shots on goal, Alexa's stood as the only actual score.  Aubrey Shelley's 5 saves helped to keep the night in the winning column.

Then Varsity began to teach the Indians a lesson.  Kari Waivol exploded on the scene with a hat trick, 2 assisted by Sarah Compton and 1 by Chelsea Reid-Robinson.  The 4th goal was scored by Kristyn Folensbee, returning from a 4 week long injury, and assisted by Kari Waivol.  Our goalkeepers, Monica McCarthy and Kaley Crunk had 2 and 1 saves respectively.  The Edgewood Indians scored twice in the first half but was held scoreless in the second half.  It was only their 2nd loss.

GO VIPERS!
Fundraising Goal Met
We've found out that what the girls earned at the car wash will be enough to cover the purchase of the new uniforms.  Yay!  No more fundraising.  We are thrilled!  Thank Mrs. Travis when you see her.
Car Wash - a Huge Success!
Thanks to all who worked so hard at the Car Wash this weekend.  The girls, through presales and on the spot sales, made $826.  They were consistently busy the whole time washing cars, and although it was exhausting, it was well worth the effort.  Thanks for all that you have done!

Lady Vipers vs Lady Hawks
It was a hard fought battle, but the Lady Vipers held the Hawks scoreless for the first 24 minutes of the game, a great improvement over their preseason meeting.  The first chink in the Viper armor occured when a call of "hand ball" resulted in a PK against the Vipers.  The final score does not reflect the effort put forth by the ladies in their attempt to clip the Hawk's wings.  Monica McCarthy had 5 saves in goal.  Final score, 8-0 in the second half.

The JV Lady Vipers suffered a similar fate, going into the half with a score of 7-0.  However, Heather Derr scored a goal for the JV Lady Vipers with a header from a corner kick by Sarah Rittenhouse.  Aubrey Shelley had 8 saves in goal, but it was not enough to prevent the 9-1 outcome.

Next game for the Vipers will be Tuesday 11/17, at West Shore High School.  Bus leaves at 3:25.  Girls will get out of class at 3:15 to change and get on the bus.  Wear Purple jerseys.  Bring something to snack on (but not on the bus).
Lady Vipers vs Edgewood
The Lady Vipers put up a good fight but suffered their first loss of the regular season to Edgewood last Friday.  Edgewood scored 3 goals in the first half to take the lead over the Lady Vipers.  The Vipers' only goal was scored by Kair Waivol, also in the first half.  Kaley Crunk had one save and Monica McCarthy had 3 saves in this hard fought battle.

The JV team ended the game in a 1 - 1 tie, bringing their season record to 1-0-2.  The goal was scored by Gianna Rivon, with an assist by Sarah Rittenhouse.  Samantha Benton had 1 save in the goal, and Aubrey Shelley had 4 saves.

The Lady Vipers will next face Viera High School at home on Thursday, November 12.
